Saturday – Moon Lit Sanctuary and Wii Fit – yeah right

We all had a lie in this morning, I think we all needed it, Jason as he is getting up early to get the bus and train to work, Sam and Moo being at school and understanding the new ways and making new friends, they are quite happy that they now have recess and just like Ryedale High in Grease have intercom announcements. Tom and I just have to get up, sort out dishwasher and washing, get kids to and from school and worry about tea, but that’s still tiring as the time in between is filled doing nothing.

We were all up about 10.30 ish and during the week had discussed going somewhere, Philip Island was an option , we would drive down early Saturday morning and find a nice B&B to stay overnight, although it is not too far away and can easily be a day trip there is lots to see and do even in Winter, and I actually liked the idea of a bed with proper bedding and sofas and home luxuries, but the kids were not as keen on the idea, well Tom wasn’t I think he just sees it at a zoo with animals, you know how stubborn he can be, wonder who he gets that from and the other 2 are just like sheep. By the time we had all got ourselves sorted it was nearly lunch time, to be honest it was great to just have a leisurely morning, we decided to go to Moon-lit Sanctuary which isn’t too far away, about 20 minutes drive. It was an Ok day when the sun came out it was warm, but it was also a bit drizzly in and amongst, again no coats, just jeans and jackets.

What a place, we would highly recommend, it is only small, and we were the only visitors, probably as it is out of season, we had the place to ourselves, we paid our $46.00 and were given 2 bags of food and told not to chase the roos. First stop was the baby roo and wallaby enclosure, they were great, some were really timid, but some knew the routine and knew that additional food was available when humans were about and were quite happy to come for a pet and some nibbles. We saw a koala and had put pics taken beside it, a talking cockatoo, who just said Hello, it was really funny, emus, one of which bit Sam when he was trying to feed it, as Tom daren’t, lots of lizards, some snakes (in cages) frogs, mice, Kookaburra, Wombat and loads of kangaroos and wallabies just roaming round. Again they knew when humans were about that additional food was available and we made loads of friends, and I mean loads they followed us everywhere, it was great fun and we would highly recommend it. Even Tom enjoyed and agreed that a trip to Philip Island was probably a good idea; he even wants to go back to the Sanctuary, who also do an evening Moon Lit tour, kids are up for that but I am not sure, day time is Ok as you can see where you are going and what is about wheras in the dark.........., well anything could be about.

When we left we headed towards Melbourne to Cheltenham and the Westfield shopping centre, we had previously bought a room heater as it gets cold on an evening, although we have the ducted heating we can’t have it too warm as the bedrooms are unbearabley hot, but as it is all open plan downstairs it gets cold and does not retain the heat (mental note, not to have completely open plan) anyhow said heater does not work and needed replacing.

While In Big W we noticed that Wii fit was on sale at $124.00, in most shops it is $149.00, Big W were out of stock, of course they were, but we went to Electronics Boutique who advertise a price match, we showed them the leaflet from Big W and bought the Wii fit for $124.00, the bloke behind bought it for $149.00. Only problem now is no TV.

We had done a deal with the kids who had some money, kindly given to them by family and friends before we left the UK and they have been desperate to spend, they agreed to pool this money for the game and Jason and I would buy a TV. We cannot continue trying to watch TV on the lap top and even then only have 3 channels, and do need a TV, on saying that a sofa and bed would be good too, I would give anything for a decent and unbroken night’s sleep right now.

The Good Guys shop came in handy again and we bought a 32” plasma for $680, in the sale, an excellent buy considering some of the portable bedroom size TV’s were $500.
Once we arrived home we all had a go on Wii fit, it is really good and again would highly recommend it was a right laugh, even I enjoyed it and I have never played on the Wii before. Moo and Sam did not want to go to bed, guess what they will be doing tomorrow. It told Jason he was obese, Tom over weight and that I am OK weight wise but need to do something about my balance, it even asked if I fall over a lot, well only when really drunk.

So I am typing this sat in my deck chair, the new TV is heavier than the lap top was and will not sit on the Sunbeam family banquet box as the lap top did, so we have had to move our dining, come side table, to now be a TV stand – guess what we will be doing tomorrow and I am sure once again you are impressed at our resourcefulness.

Hi Carol

Good to hear from you, hope you are well?

Someone asked us if we liked camping on Friday night as they could suggest some places, he was told in no uncertain terms that we have had enough of air beds and deck chairs for now.

Can't wait for our stuff, for clothes!!!!!, I need more than the 4 t shirts and 4 pairs of pants and 2 jackets that I brought with me.

Jason says thanks for his birthday wishes, we still need to celebrate it properly.

Hi Anna,

Jason had a hair cut the week before, for starting at ANZ, they took a little too much off, well he doesn't have that much to start with, it looks better now that it has grown a bit you will be pleased to know :-)
