Jason was up bright and early and left about 6.30 to give himself enough time to get to the CBD, I was also awake fully about 7 when the builders started work on the site in general, but also on the building block next door, GREAT, no lie ins for me. It was an awful day and I am sure you will be pleased to hear that the rain was as heavy as we have had in Queensbury and Northowram, it rained on and off all day long.
Not a problem as the children and I had no plans for the day, except that I had put my new washer to good use on Sunday evening and done 2 loads of washing which I intended to put on the clothes line outside and assumed they would dry in no time, so we had washing everywhere, in the bathrooms over the sinks, over the side of the bath, hung on the shower doors and all over the kitchen work surfaces in an attempt to dry them, it is amazing how resourceful I can be when needs must.
When Jason arrived at the office, he rang the lease company and asked for more info on how this would work and the associated costing’s, it was as we had suspected in that the monthly payments don’t increase that much more, the more you novate if that makes sense and of course the tax break is better.
Jason rang and after discussing this, I spent some time going back through the weekend papers looking at cars, and found one which was an option, Jason rang the garage, who were great, (Ford / Kia in Mornington) they brought the car to me, parked it on the drive so I could have a look then took Mollie and I for a run to see how the car performed, the car they brought was brand new, they had only had it half an hour and if was still covered in plastic, it was an automatic and as I have never driven an automatic was not going to embarrass myself in front of some sales guy. It was a great car, plenty of room for us and 2 visitors and Buster of course; it even got the thumbs up from the kids. I spoke to Jason and it is now with the lease company to deal with.
About 3 o clock it stopped raining, now today was a special day, it was Jason’s 40th birthday, the kids and I having studied the Melways had found a path which took us straight to the Supermarket, so we set off, Tom and Sam with their skateboards and Moo and I just walking, it wasn’t that far and had it not started raining again would have been fairly pleasant. We bought a cake, candles, large bar of Dairy milk and a bag of balloons. When we got back to the house I had to take my trousers off they were that wet, when it rains, it really rains.
For tea I made a curry with pitta bread and noodles, not bad I thought, with a large pan and a small frying pan which I brought with me in my suitcase. We then had cake and Jason blew out his candles, the cake was meant to be a surprise but Sam let it slip over tea, he seems to be good at that. Not very exciting, after tea Jason and I shared a bottle of $5.90 Seaview sparkling which was really nice, we have started making a list of the ones we like, and that was it, Jason’s not so special 40th birthday. He had 3 cards, one from the children, one from me and a great one from Robin (Jason’s brother) and partner Andy, on the front was a hairy man in his undies and he was holding a mirror and looking down the back of them, it said.
“40 Today, Jason discovers that the aging process is all about growing more and more hair in less than attractive places “How true this is of Jason, it was very funny, well I thought so as Jason is very hairy, all over.
The kids wanted to know why we weren’t going out, well at the moment, we don’t have a yellow pages we have to wait for that to be delivered, so we don’t know a taxi number, we don’t have a car to drive us anywhere and it was raining cats and dogs, so we would get very wet if we tried to go anywhere.
We also had a call from my brother wishing Jason a happy birthday and giving us some GREAT news his friend Tim, who is a car sales man, was going to buy my car, thank goodness for that, one less to worry about, I did ask if he wanted to buy a house too, Andrew just laughed, don’t know why I was being serious........
