While we were driving round we received a call, from the rental agent asking some questions about where we were now, Jason explained that SMS had put us in an apartment in the city, that he starts work on Monday and we wanted a rental as soon as possible.
We then received another call asking if we had filled in a utilities form, we were trying not to get too excited at this point, just in case this was all just part of the application, we went back to the office, filled out the form and he faxed it through for us. We were still looking at rentals and had a couple of options ticked to see the real estate agent about, I asked Jason if he really was Ok with looking at these areas as they are much further out and he will be travelling over an hour into the city, he said he was and it was worth the travel to live in the area.
Another call came and more questions, then the final call to say if we paid them $4650 on Monday (Bond and first month rent) it was ours and we could have the keys Tuesday!!!! We were overjoyed, it was such a relief to know that we have somewhere to live, and in a place and house we would want to live in.
We don’t intend to leave the apartment until the end of April, we might go down at weekends, maybe move some bits and see the area, but as our furniture is not scheduled to arrive until the end of May, at least we will have some home comforts in the apartment even if there isn’t enough room to swing a cat.
As with 99.9% of rentals here, there is a no dog policy, we will wait until we have been in a few months, show we are good tenants, then ask the question, we will need to pay double bond but usually that works and we can then get Buster here to join us
So the Brown B&B at Hereford Court on the Mornington Peninsular will be open for guests from June onwards.
