We left the house at about 9.10 to get to school for 9.30 which was when we had been told to arrive, Monday morning is assembly until 9.30, we were met by Imogen who works in the office who took us first to Sam’s class where we met Miss Wallace, she seemed lovely and said that everyone was looking forward to meeting Sam. Then onto Miss Dawes class for Mollie who was soo excited, I really cannot put into words how much she wanted to go to school, again they were ready for her and made her so welcome straight away, she was putting her back pack into her locker before I had even left the classroom.
Tom was still in bed when I got back to the house, I got cracking with washing, cleaning the kitchen, dining area, and downstairs loo, l even did some ironing, which is not that interesting really, but again those who know me well know “I don’t do ironing”, that is Jason’s job, (very quickly - when we met I was divorced with a lady who did my ironing, when Jason moved in we sent his stuff too, he didn’t like how she did his shirts so he sacked her and from that day he took responsibility for most of the ironing)
After lunch Tom and I went to the local supermarket then to pick the kids up from school and buy uniforms, it wasn’t as bad cost wise as we didn’t need to buy all the summer stuff too, the pics attached are of the winter uniform.
They both had great days, Sam came running towards me with a big smile on his face, it was such a relief, he had made friends with Brian, Cody and Tyler, half of his class are from the UK, so it is home from home, although he did say they laughed at his accent, what is wrong with our Yorkshire accent I ask. Sam had an IT lesson today, they all have laptops, with their own email address and home page with details about themselves (only for school use), when he had finished his work he had to send it to his teacher for checking. He had brought a form home, for his Learning Journeys program, where Sam has elected to join the Outdoor Education Adventure Team, for the next few weeks they are learning about road safety and the bike education program, it is just unfortunate that his bike hasn’t arrived as yet; apparently he can use one of the schools. There is no canteen in school, every child brings his or own packed lunch, Sam and his mates had there’s sat outside in the sunshine during recess
Mollie had enjoyed her day too; she has made friends with crazy Poppy, (we are still not sure what the crazy is all about yet, but apparently she is), Jasmine, Chloe and quite a few others. She had a fun packed day and can’t wait for tomorrow. They are both excited at additional clubs on offer, they offer Italian, even though Japanese is taught in school, a few sports which I can’t remember and also guitar, electric guitar, drums, electric drums, flute and a couple of other instruments.
We then all picked Jason up from the station and had a quiet night. Tom wants to bake a cake tomorrow, not sure where he gets that notion from nor how he things we are going to do this with our one large pan and small frying pan, although we did buy a Sunbeam family Banquet fry pan at the weekend, and apparently you can bake a cake in that, watch this space for that one. I need to ring Mornington Secondary College tomorrow, someone had said they would get someone from Mount Eliza Secondary to give me a ring, but we haven’t heard anything as yet, so I will have to sort this out myself. Tom wants to go to school and even admitted to being envious of Sam and Moo being at school today.
Today’s news is that the car should be here later this week, early next week, it is coming from Sydney. The internet people have had a talking too, when Jason rang today to see how much longer they would be, they gave him the same standard response as last week, when asked why it had not changed they said that it had not being dealt with last week and would be pushed through. The Ozzies need some lessons in customer service as it is appalling, they really have no idea, I would sack someone for the service or lack of that we have had from our management company, but that’s another story.

They are loving it Nikki, the school is http://www.benton.vic.edu.au/index.php and the teaching is based on the International Baccalaureate's Primary Years Program.
They are both sooo happy which is great to see and both have friends already. Sam loves his teacher and I didn't think anyone could replace Mr Brearley.
