Today was school assembly which parents are encouraged to attend, so I went along while I can, we started off by singing the Australian National Anthem, do you know the Australian National Anthem cos we don’t, looks like we will have to teach Sam and Moo when we are back on line and can find it.
Each class year takes it in turn to run the assembly, this week was year 5, so I am assuming next week is Sam’s year, they did a presentations and told us what had been happening in school the previous week, it was quite good really. They also talked about a meeting tonight which they wanted parents to attend about the Safe Houses Scheme which they have been running for 4 years and may need to stop as they don’t have enough parents involved, I have no idea what so ever what this is all about although we have seen signs outside quite a few schools advertising that they are a Safe House school, that’s something else that I will need to look up on the internet when we eventually have it. I won’t be going to the meeting as I don’t want to start volunteering for something I potentially can not commit too, once Tom is in TAFE, I will have to find a job, well unless we sell the house between now and then and I think there is more chance of pigs flying than that happening, so job hunting I will go, although I am not happy about it, I quite enjoy being a lady of leisure and had hoped to be able to enjoy the beach and other activities. We also need to look at Buster and how my working is going to impact on him, the rental is strictly no pets, we have been told to not tell them about him, or be up front and tell them that he will live outside and in the garage and will not be allowed in the house, hummmm can’t see Buster being impressed with option 2, there are quite a few on the development with dogs, but we don’t know the rented houses and the owned ones. But I am also not sure about leaving him with the run of the house for the day while I am out and as it is all open plan downstairs he would have the run of the house. We are going to the development BBQ next Saturday, hopefully we will meet some of our neighbours, the kids will meet some other kids, and we can make subtle enquiries about the dog, although no need to worry just yet as we don’t have the £2,500 ($5,000) to pay to bring him over.
Today I went to the bank and got a bank cheque to pay for the rest of the furniture and also went to the Mornington information centre and picked up some information booklets which we are going to send to some of you, so you can see where we are and plan your trips to see us – PLEASE!!!!!!!.
When we arrived and handed over the cheque to the lovely Adele, she asked what I wanted to take with me, I explained that I would only get the flat pack bedroom drawers in the case and we were going to hire a van tomorrow to pick up the sofas, she told me they have a casual arrangements with a man with a van and would I be able to pay cash and it would be about $40 – to $50, I rather enthusiastically said yes, after ringing Wayne it was agreed he would deliver our new sofas at 2.30 today, fantastic news, deck chairs are Ok but after a while they are somewhat uncomfortable.
Then Jason rang, I needed to take some additional information to the garage as our new car had arrived, they are tinting the windows today and I can pick him up tomorrow. He is going to be called Ron!
After school we had a visit to our local park, about 5 mins drive up the road, the kids had a great time, well Moo and Sam did, Sam practised on his skateboard, and Moo played on the swings, the sun was shining and it was still warm, Tom sat in the shade, apparently he is too cool, to be in a park and I sat in the sun, in winter - What a great day!!!!
