Wednesday night we ate out, which was an experience in itself, we didn’t want to go far, our feet hurt and we were tired but we struggled to find anywhere open within walking distance, we eventually found an Italian, which was OK.
Thursday morning was a serious house hunting day, we hired a car and set off with our Melways, a list of houses to look at and all the info we had which we hoped would assist our getting a rental, rentals are difficult to come by, especially the nice ones, we have been told that in a lot of cases if the estate agent likes you, you have more chance of getting the rental than if they don’t, we have also heard of people having to put in over 20 applications before getting a rental.
First stop was Caroline Springs as Jason and the kids loved the place, it was newish and they are still developing with some beautiful houses being built, it just didn’t have the right feel for me, not sure why, but as I was in the minority we headed out there first. The Town centre is lovely, all new with schools, restaurants and sports centres, but the houses for rent were not what we were looking for, had we wanted a 3 bed house we would have been OK, NICE 4 bedrooms are few and far between and 5 beds like rocking horse poo. The 4 bed houses in Caroline Springs were the older type, bit like neighbours sort of houses and when we are used to newer styles not what we wanted.
Then onto Point Cook and Sanctuary Lakes which again is lovely, very flat, all newly built, with a huge shopping centre opening later this year. We did find 2 houses on Sanctuary Lakes which were having open houses on Saturday and we planned to go back and see them, there were also a couple of possibilities in Point Cook. These are areas on the West and about 30 mins from the city, it is mostly new and upcoming, but quite industrial, it just didn’t have the right feel for me and we weren’t sure where the beaches were either.
After a long and hot day stuck in the car we headed back to the apartment and an early night ready for another house hunting day on the East and when I say early we were in bed again by 8.30
