Manchester to Dubai

Well we arrived at the airport very subdued and not in the best frame of mind, we were not impressed either when they were weighing hand luggage which we knew could not exceed 7 kilos, well my pulley case weighted at least 10 and Jason’s nearly 14, this was not good as we also knew the suitcases were border line 20 kilos weight wise too. We had visions of being Michelin man and having to wear some of the clothes we had packed in our hand luggage. They are doing work at Manchester airport and it was very noisy, the girl at check in obviously loved her job – NOT!!!! She was far from helpful when we tried to explain that we were moving and didn’t care in the least, on the bright side when she told us most of our hand luggage was overweight she also told us that Emirates were letting everyone have a free 8 kilo luggage increase, thank god for that, we were able to clear out some of the hand luggage stuff into the suitcases, we were not popular with those behind us in the queue though as you can probably imagine. We were also told the flight had been delayed for an hour, great again not what we wanted to hear.

Although the good news was that, just before we left for the airport, dad had a call asking him if someone could view the house on Saturday, this couple were seeing next door first then coming to look at ours - FAB News, fingers crossed

Through to the departure area and straight to the bar, for a quick beer to try and relieve that sick to your stomach feeling, it didn’t work, Tracy had the runs, in fact she’d had the runs for a few days, was off her food and should really have lost some weight, but probably not. We then took the kids to Burger King which they enjoyed, you would have thought it was there last meal, Tom and Sam ate loads and were fighting over what Tracy left.

After food went for a wander, but as it was late most of the shops were shutting then back to the bar to waste some more time.

The aircraft was lovely when we bordered, you could tell it was a newer type plane, we had 4 seats in the middle and across the aisle, we asked Tom to sit by himself as we knew he would just plug himself in, the seat next to him was empty so he had some room and an older woman at the window seat. We were fed twice, food Ok, although can’t remember what choices we had, Moo was sick due to coughing soo much, luckily Tracy had a cup with some water in, which she had ready to give to Mollie when she had finished coughing and Moo managed to hit that. A rather uneventful flight which went quite quickly.

Dubai was HOT, landed early morning and it was already 90 degrees and SOOO busy, I have never seen an airport so busy, neither have I seen duty free shops like it, you can tell those with money go there. Anyhow our priorities were food and something to drink and cough medicine for Mollie, we got medicine and went off to good old MacDonald’s for a Mc Breakfast, yes Dubai airport in all its splendour has a MacDonald’s. BUT they don’t do breakfasts, it must be an English thing, Sam and Tom had chicken nuggets for breakfast.
