It’s been a while

Ok it’s been a while, we have had some complaints so here goes with what I can remember.

We have had more birds, these are the pink and grey ones.

We have been busy that’s for sure, I finished the theory element of my course, had a week off due to the time taken for the police check to come through and started my placement. The first few days were hard for a number of reasons, but it got easier as I got to know the residents / patients. There were some lovely people, really lovely characters which was nice. They had already suggested I might want to stay with them before I started and this theme continued throughout the placement. I was asked by the manager nearly every day to see her about an application, then my team leader started suggesting I might want to apply, by the Thursday of the last week I was given a new starter pack and just told to sign all the forms, I was asked what I wanted to work and told that they had a permanent 7 until 3, Monday to Friday shift available, but I explained that my parents are coming and I would want time off when they were here and that casual hours would suit me better, so I now have 8 shifts between now and the end of the month which is good and will be good for my CV too and we will see how it goes.

During the school hols Moo had a haircut, which is much better and will be much easier with the warmer weather.

Last Thursday Warren and Claire arrived, they are from Sowerby Bridge and have a PR visa and moving to Perth, they have travelled lots en route, including a short stay here in Melbourne, it was wonderful to see them, even for the short time they were here. Obviously, as it was a midweek arrival Jason was at work and I was on placement, so they had a day in the CBD, we only really spent the evening with them, but that was good, I cooked one night and we had takeaway the next night. On Saturday we drove down to Safety Beach and had breakfast before setting off to the West coast to Avalon airport where they were getting the final flight to Perth.

When we left them we drove down to Geelong and had a wander round the shops and then onto the ferry across the mouth of the bay to bring us back to the east side. It is a lovely area and I did ask Jason to have a look at how often the trains were to the CBD. We had a glass of wine while waiting for the ferry and watched the dolphins playing, it was lovely.

On Sunday we were at Peppa and Owens for a BBQ, the kids were in and out of the pool and spa and had a great time, they were not that scared when they saw a red back spider which was rather large. (YOU HAVE TO ENLARGE THIS ONE)

Monday to Friday was working and placement and not much more really.

Kids are back at school, in the summer uniform where they HAVE to wear a hat or they are not allowed out at play times, Moo is OK with it, but Sam is not impressed.

Saturday we had no plans, we had intended having a quiet weekend, we all did Tom’s paper round as seems to be the norm, then saw Hayley and Paul on our way back, it was agreed that we would christen our BBQ that afternoon. While getting organised for that we received a text from Katie and Ryan asking if they could pick up the things that they left during the last visit. It was lovely to see them and they stayed over. After the BBQ we played poker until I have no idea when, Hayley took Millie home at some point and I went to bed at that stage, Jason has no idea what time he came to bed so I can only assume it was a good night.

Sunday we met Peppa, Owen and kids at Mornington Market, we were going to go to the beach but it was hot and windy, so we took Ryan’s van and left that in Frankston, and had a BBQ for tea and prepared for school tomorrow.

Ryan and Katie are going to stay this week, before hiring a camper can and doing some more travelling before cutting short there visit and leaving Oz at the end of November.
