Well I have been working hard for the past 2 days, my timetable has been :-
Monday
Introductions (trainers and trainees)
Job Descriptions (Patient Care Assistant, Patient Service Assistant)
Organisation structures (Care)
Industrial Laws
Confidentiality
Duty of Care
Funding
Elder Abuse
Tuesday
Time Management
Negotiation Skills
Teams
Conflict Resolution
Endocrine System (Glands/ Hormones)
Elimination (Basically Posh word for Pooing and Peeing)
Incontinence (we all know what this is)
There has been a couple of eye openers really, the course is very mixed, with men and women and also different races, we must cover most of the continent on this course. Those who can speak other languages were told not to, at all, and those who wish to pray were told in their own time, at breaks and in lunch and if they needed more time then they needed to add it all up and do it in their own time. Having worked for some of the larger UK companies we usually accommodated religious needs and provided private rooms etc and I found the “not in my time” stance very different.
Today has been frustrating too, everyone is a little more familiar, so those who first language is not English have not really participated, there is a woman who is already working in an aged care facility but needs the certificate (sat next to me) who thinks she knows everything and we did have a “conflict” situation today when we were partnered for an activity and she didn’t listen to what we needed to do whereas I did and it was an interesting 20 minutes.
